Galaxy has more features 'n' graphics than the original. You could save, turn off, and resume to the spot you were at in Mario.
But in first Super Mario Bros, you can't.
This poll would of tougher if it was between Galaxy and Super Mario Bros. 3, but Galaxy would still win.

I personally think the first one was better... whatever we think of graphics now, they did without in the past. gameplay alone made the game stellar, not motion sensitivity or graphics or star bits...

Galaxy may have graphics but is DEFINATELY not as hard as the first 1. BY FAR the 1st 1 is superior.

StarCraft MapMaker and UMS extremist. Have, maintain, and update a RuneScape Private server. If you don't know what it is, Google it. Currently uses Silabsoft's downloadable client, which can be found [button] here[/button] The server is OFFLINE for now... Sole Arcade Champion + Shutdown Survivor Oh, and also: "I'm fabulous." -House

The Ori. is a longer plot, and if you ask me its more fun.

To tell the truth, SMG really wasn't too big a deal. People were just glad there was a new Mario game, and walking around planets was fun, but it really wasn't too spectacular a game...

True, and one thing you have to get into account is that if you lay SMG on one day for too long, even if you liked it, it gets boring quick and you feel like putting the thing in the trash for a while. I had that feeling before.

I think they're weird games to compare, simply because they are so different. SMB is obviously a more simple play-for-points kind of game, and SMG is a full-fledged 3D platformer. It really matters on preference. I really like the speed and fluidness of SMB (how you can just run and jump through the entire level), as opposed to the more slow/realistic movement of SMG, but that is simply personal preference. Both are great games.
SMG is great, SMG2 might be better since Yoshi is in it.
I really don't see SMG or SMG2 being better than the other. SMG2 is basically just an extension to SMG.
